Este 5 de agosto se conmemora el 71 aniversario del “aldabonazo” del Dr. Eduardo Chibás, senador cubano y co-fundador del Partido del Pueblo Cubano (Ortodoxo). Muchos lectores recordarán su comparecencia en la CMQ el 5 de agosto de 1951 donde, tras declarar su “último aldabonazo”, se dio un disparo y falleció días después, el 16 de agosto. Algunos dicen que estaba loco, otros que era un líder visionario. Lo que es innegable es el papel importante que jugó en la historia de Cuba.

August 5th marks the 71st anniversary of the death of Dr. Eduardo Chibás, Cuban senator and co-founder of the Cuban People’s Party (Orthodox). Many readers will remember his appearance on CMQ radio on August 5, 1951 where, after declaring his “last stand,” he shot himself and passed away on August 16th. Some say that he was crazy, others say that he was a visionary leader. What is undeniable is the important role that he played in Cuban history.
