El 17 de septiembre de 1961, 131 religiosos cubanos fueron expulsados de Cuba por el régimen castrista a bordo del vapor español Covadonga. La ardua travesía los llevó a diferentes rincones de la tierra, convirtiéndolos en símbolo de la represión anti-religiosa del régimen comunista. Entre los tripulantes más famosos del Covadonga se encontraban Mons. Eduardo Boza Masvidal y Mons. Agustín Román.
The end of religious freedom in Cuba
On September 17, 1961, 131 priests and other religious figures were expelled from Cuba by the Castro regime aboard the Spanish steamship Covadonga. The difficult journey took them to the different corners of the Earth, turning them into a symbol of the Communist regime’s anti-religious repression. Among the Covadonga’s most famous passengers were Mons. Eduardo Boza Masvidal and Mons. Agustín Román.
