El pasado 15 de mayo celebró su 95 cumpleaños el reconocido y querido locutor cubano Eduardo González Rubio. Nacido en Marianao, La Habana, en 1930, se graduó como locutor profesional en 1956 y comenzó su carrera en la radio cubana trabajando en emisoras como Radio Caribe, Mil Diez, Radio Continental, Radio Mambí y Unión Radio. Después de partir al exilio, continuó su carrera en Miami, donde trabajó en WMIE (actualmente WQBA), y su voz se escuchó en emisoras como Radio Américas, Radio Swan, Radio Europa Libre, y en más de 150 emisoras de la Agencia de Informaciones Periodísticas (A.I.P.). Además de su carrera profesional, González Rubio ha sido una figura influyente en el ámbito cultural cubano en el exilio. Su vida y trayectoria han sido documentadas en el libro Pegado al micrófono, escrito por el periodista Omar Claro. Desde las páginas de Libre felicitamos a este legendario cubano.
Celebrating Eduardo González Rubio at 95
On May 15th, renowned and beloved Cuban broadcaster Eduardo González Rubio celebrated his 95th birthday. Born in Marianao, Havana, in 1930, he graduated as a professional announcer in 1956 and began his career in Cuban radio working in stations such as Radio Caribe, Mil Diez, Radio Continental, Radio Mambí and Unión Radio. After going into exile, he continued his career in Miami, where he worked at WMIE (now WQBA), and his voice was heard on stations such as Radio Americas, Radio Swan, Radio Free Europe, and on more than 150 stations of the Journalistic Information Agency (A.I.P.). In addition to his professional career, González Rubio has been an influential figure in the Cuban cultural sphere in exile.
