Mr. Trump and Ben Carson, the secretary of housing and urban development, have suggested it involves owning a beautiful home and a roaring business, but it wasn’t always so. Instead, in the 1930s, it meant freedom, mutual respect and equality of opportunity. It had more to do with morality than material success.    This drift in meaning is significant, because the American Dream — and international variants like the Australian Dream, Le Rêve Français and others — represents core values. In the United States, these values affect major government decisions on housing, regulation and mortgage guarantees, and millions of private choices regarding whether to start a business buy an ostentatious home or rent an apartment.”- NYT 8/21/2022

The difference between the NYT’s interpretation and the historical one is that government is not cited as a conduit towards the dreams achievement only personal freedom to act.  

What the NYT proposes following the socialist dogma is simply your dream will be made possible not by you, but by your leaders, eliminating personal freedom.    Simply put, we will allow your dream only if they match our goals.

The American dream, a phrase coined in 1931 by James Truslow Adams in his book The Epic of America, has been one of the most utilized and misinterpreted expressions in our political history.    

Both political parties claim to understand its true meaning and promise to help us towards our achievement of that lofty goal.     But do they really understand what the intended meaning truly is?     

The real dream was started by our first immigrants, the “puritans”, and elaborated with brilliance in our Declaration of Independence and our Constitution with the added Bill of Rights.    What has made this country great and attractive to all people worldwide, is the right of self-governance, with freedom to pursue your individual desires with the same opportunity of others, regardless of your race or gender.    

The true intent of “liberty and the pursuit of happiness” is based in the individual’s total freedom, leaders only responsible for assuring equal opportunity.     

The government works for the people and its only duties are the common goals assigned to them by “the people”.  

Freedom has to be complete and included in this liberty is to assume all of our lives and responsibilities including our failures.    Progressives want us to believe that our dreams are only achieved by attaining wealth or success and because this aspiration is not always possible, if disappointment occurred the responsibility for this is due to societal, not personal doings.  They, the self-chosen elite, would provide through governing the basic needs of life and assume the distribution of wealth in order to achieve a utopian equality.  

 That philosophy has never worked as a form of governing, eliminates the real concept of freedom that includes freedom to fail, and is totally opposed to the principles that made our country unique and the most successful in the world.   Our true dream is liberty and equality of possibilities and not guaranteed achievements of any kind, work not wealth is the goal.   

By making rights of health care, education, homes, foods, transportation, etc., they are denying us true independence and are attacking our self-esteem and our free will that includes the only right that our forefathers envisioned that of individual equal opportunity.    

This demands personal accountability that includes of every aspect of our being, like assisting those that because of personal impairments cannot fend alone.    

 There is no such thing as equality, or social justice. These are just false promises made to us by people that exploit the worst in us, like anger, envy, in order to take away our genuine American Dream, and dictate our lives just as we suffered in the countries that we left behind. Do not be fooled.  

 In this upcoming election the choice is clear.    Vote to keep the U.S.A. the nation with the ideals that have through the time made it exceptional.
