The taste of life was sweet as rain upon my tongue
I teased at life as if it were a foolish game
The way the evening breeze may tease a candle flame
The thousand dreams I dreamed, the splendid things I planned
I always built, alas, on weak and shifting sand,
I lived by night and shunned the naked light of day
And only now I see how the years ran away
Yesterday when I was young
So many drinking songs were waiting to be sung,
So many wayward pleasures laid in store for me
and so much pain my dazzled eyes refused to see
I ran so fast that time and youth at last ran out
I never stopped to think what life all was about
A few weeks ago, I celebrated having lived up to 86 years.
The fact is I have had many changes from my expectation to my real life. I will limit these to two eras, before my 26 birthdays, and after that. It was BC (before Nuria), and AC (after Nuria).
The lyrics copied above from one of my favorite songs, apply to my BC era. The change was gradual and not easy, but with her help and constant support I was able to achieve much, both in my personal growth and my professional life.
I look back with pride, and now that my future is growing much shorter than my past, my luck of having her constant support and encouragement persist.
As it was determined by our Creator the timing is unknown, but it will happen.
When it comes, it will be only a bodily absence, as my legacy, philosophy, and whatever impact I had with my family, admired Veterans and superb staff, will remain forever.
